Do ORV Manufacturers Encourage Lawlessness?

Through an analysis conducted by the independent Campaign Media Analysis Group (CMAG), RTA reviewed television advertisements sponsored by four major ORV manufacturers: Arctic Cat, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), Polaris and Suzuki. CMAG surveyed all 210 Designated Market Areas (DMAs) in the country, as well as national cable and national network television stations over a five-year period from January 1, 2004 - January 31, 2009.

Among the major findings are that the companies spent $23,280,148 on 26,139 TV commercial airings, many that promoted what we found to be aggressive behavior.

“Farmers as a group rarely tend to want more government regulation. But the growing problem of trespassing caused by illegal riders spurred our membership into action to pass common-sense visible identification and ORV enforcement measures. We are proud that we were able to work with rider groups to find a solution that all sides could agree to.”
