LAKE WALES - The Lake Wales Police Department is cracking down on illegal activity by drivers of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

Police officials say that ATVs operated on public rights of way, roads, highways, streets, sidewalks, trails, parks and parkways present a danger to the health, safety and welfare of bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists.

Fleeing ATV operator nabbed after driving through pond

The driver of an ATV illegally being operated on public roads was apprehended after leading Okaloosa Sheriff's deputies on an on- and off-road chase last week.

Christopher Andrew Oglesby, 23, of Batten Road in Crestview was driving a yellow ATV west on U.S. Highway 90 in Crestview when he was spotted by a deputy.
