HUDSON — Authorities have arrested a young man accused of injuring four people in a hit-and-run accident with an ATV over the weekend. The Florida Highway Patrol says Michael Dennis Floyd, 17, was driving his pickup west on Denton Avenue about 2 a.m. Saturday when he collided with an all-terrain vehicle going south on Hicks Road. FHP said the ATV ran through the stop sign. The kids on the ATV — ranging in age from 12 to 16 — were all thrown from the vehicle. They were taken to area hospitals for their injuries. Floyd later told authorities he ran from the scene because he didn't have a driver's license and had a warrant out for his arrest. Two passengers in his truck eventually identified Floyd, who turned himself in to authorities Wednesday, a report states. The Hudson teen faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury and driving without a valid license. -- |

“Once they chased our cow into a deep arroyo where it fell and broke its neck. I don't understand how anyone could think chasing livestock is fun.” As a result of the growing conflicts with off-roaders, the Gonzales family stopped their cattle ranching. It doesn't matter whether it is a plate or decal, what is important is that the identification is visible. The police could have tracked down the illegal riders if we had been able to photograph the IDs on their vehicles. I think that would have made them think twice before breaking the law.” - Eleanor Gonzales, private property owner in Santé Fe County, NM |
