Tattnall County Sheriff Quinton Rush has issued the following warning about operations of off-road vehicles: “I have been very patient in asking for cooperation of riders of off-road vehicles. This has not worked for everyone. Some riders continue to operate these vehicles on public roads. Public roads are described as any road maintained by the City, County, State, or Federal Governments. This roadway extends from right-of-way to right-of-way on on each side of these roads. “There will be no more WARNINGS about these violations. Effective this date, I have instructed our deputies to write citations to owners and operators. Your vehicle will be impounded by a wrecker service at your expense. All these violations will be mandatory court appearances by owner/operators. “This is the last WARNING about this problem. Everyone will be treated the same way. “Please do not call me after you are given a citation. I am very tired of these complaints. These vehicles are illegal on public roads. They sometimes cause damage to our dirt roads by spinning wheels, etc.,” said Sheriff Rush. -- Source: http://www.glennvillesentinel.net/v2/content.aspx?ID=23027&MemberID=1295 |

“Farmers as a group rarely tend to want more government regulation. But the growing problem of trespassing caused by illegal riders spurred our membership into action to pass common-sense visible identification and ORV enforcement measures. We are proud that we were able to work with rider groups to find a solution that all sides could agree to.” - Christopher Henney, Director of Legislative Relations, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation |
