HAZARD, Ky. -- Firefighters continue to battle a series of wildfires in eastern Kentucky and state officials says many of them were set by arsonists. Bob Kelly with the Division of Forestry told WYMT-TV in Hazard some firefighters have worked 30 days straight, trying to contain the blazes that have burned thousands of acres. An unusually dry spring is contributing to fire conditions. Kelly said firefighters have recently put out several fires near ATV trails. In Rockcastle County, Ranger Marvin Stone says fires that broke out on Tuesday were set by arsonists and says it's the same people who ignite the woods year after year. The state has a hotline to report suspicious fires at 1-800-27-ARSON. -- Source: http://www.kentucky.com/2010/04/14/1223372/wildfires-continue-to-plague-eastern.html |

“Farmers as a group rarely tend to want more government regulation. But the growing problem of trespassing caused by illegal riders spurred our membership into action to pass common-sense visible identification and ORV enforcement measures. We are proud that we were able to work with rider groups to find a solution that all sides could agree to.” - Christopher Henney, Director of Legislative Relations, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation |
