POLAND — A pair of vandals on four-wheelers left a swath of destruction in Poland early Tuesday and police spent the rest of the day searching for clues. Androscoggin County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Nichols said overnight and into the morning, the culprits tore up property and plowed through mailboxes in the area of Empire, Hardscrabble and Plains roads. "They tore up the lawn at the State Park," Nichols said. "They ran over every wooden mailbox post they came across." Tracks indicate there are at least two riders involved. Most of the damage, Nichols said, appeared to have been done between midnight and 3 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 784-7361. -- |

"Nevada Sheriffs' and Chiefs' Association worked closely with the Nevada OHV community to develop our current law and we believe that when fully implemented it will be very helpful in dealing with the problems of theft of OHVs and it will go a long way in identifying those who participate in destructive acts on or off public lands." - Frank Adams of the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association |
