The Mesquite Police Department frequently receives reports of off-highway vehicles operating on private property without permission of the land owner. A rider MUST have permission to ride an OHV on private property and may be subject to prosecution if found to be riding on private property without permission. The City of Mesquite recently adopted an ordinance (Bill #415), which permits OHV’s to travel on designated public streets in order to reach an area open for OHV travel. |

The Bureau of Land Management is asking the public’s help in identifying who tore up the land and broke through a fence at the Silver Saddle Ranch off River Road over the weekend. Evidence at the scene indicates that on Saturday night, a four-wheel drive vehicle drove down into the Silver Saddle Ranch from an area closed to off-road vehicles on Prison Hill, according to a BLM news release. When the driver reached the ranch, the road was closed off by a gate, so the driver drove his vehicle through the boundary fence adjacent to the main visitor gate. |

Jeff DeLong An environmental study of a proposed travel management plan for Tahoe National Forest is available for public review, U.S. Forest Service officials said Friday. Advertisement The release of the draft environmental impact report represents an important milestone in regulating motorized travel in the forest, which straddles the crest of the Sierra northwest of Lake Tahoe. The area is heavily used by residents of the Reno area. The plan's goal is to protect a fragile landscape while at the same time providing a "challenging and diverse" road and trail system for off-highway users, Forest Supervisor Tom Quinn said. |
