On one side was Greig octogenarian Rose V. Pettit, who is representing herself in seeking annulment of a 2009 law opening 2.32 miles of county roads to ATVs. |

Steve Virkler LOWVILLE — Fresh off a legal victory against the town of Lyonsdale, all-terrain vehicle opponents have taken aim at Lewis County's ATV law that provides a connection between Tug Hill and Brantingham. "In their apparent rush to satisfy ATV riders, the Lewis County Board of Legislators violated New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law 2405(1) and opened roads without justification," Greig resident Rose V. Pettit states in legal papers filed Monday in the Lewis County clerk's office. |

Sarah Gantz The Oswego Valley ATV club may soon have access to the entire county-owned Cato-Fair Haven trail, another step toward their quest for permission to ride all the county's trails. County officials reason that all-terrain vehicle riders will use the trails regardless of having permission and say that they are willing to expand the club's access because their agreement requires the club to maintain the trails they use, which the county can not afford on its own and officials say the club has done adequately. |
