Matt Powers BROOKFIELD — A Brookfield man has been arrested after leading police on an all-terrain chase. Travis A. Buchanan of Brookfield allegedly fled from police on his four wheel ATV at 2:16 a.m. before his vehicle flipped and he was ejected on Friday. Buchanan, 31, of Beaver Creek Road, was driving his ATV down Skaneateles Turnpike when a deputy sheriff flashed his roof lights in an attempt to pull him over. Buchanan then allegedly accelerated his vehicle to flee. His ATV flipped over as he rounded a curve seconds after Buchanan entered Church Street. He complained of pain in his shoulder and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Utica. Buchanan was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was issued summons for operating an unregistered and uninsured ATV, speed not reasonable nor prudent, unlawful operation on a public highway and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Brookfield Court at a later date. -- Source: http://www.oneidadispatch.com/articles/2010/01/25/news/doc4b5e726eec40c530333434.txt |

"We can't continue to utilize the Black Hills in the fashion we have, particularly in the past 10 years. Just because the hill is there doesn't mean we need to climb it and produce another trail. Those ruts are there for years." -- Tom Blair, ORV rider and owner of Whistler Gulch Campground in Deadwood, "Changes coming for ATV riders", Rapid City Journal (10/18/09) |
