YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- The city of Youngstown is toughening its law against operating ATVs in the city.

Violations of the law will now be a first degree misdemeanor, which carries a stiffer penalty than it previously carried as a third degree misdemeanor.

Under the new ordinance, the city will have the right to confiscate the vehicles if they are on any public property in the city.

Officials said the reason for the change is to reduce threats to safety they said the vehicles pose.
