Michael J. Rudolf TUNKHANNOCK - A man charged with using his all-terrain vehicle to evade police on a state road pleaded guilty in Wyoming County Court on Friday. Justin Harris, 28, of Noxen, was charged with a series of summary offenses, including illegal operation on streets and highways, not operating a vehicle in a safe manner, not having a valid registration, careless driving, driving without insurance and operating an unregistered ATV. The charges were filed in connection with an incident on June 20 on Stull Road in Noxen Twp. Each of the offenses is punishable by a fine, said Judge Russell Shurtleff. If the maximum sentence is imposed on each offense, Mr. Harris could be ordered to pay $1,250. -- Source: http://thetimes-tribune.com/news/noxen-man-pleads-to-evading-police-1.534319

“It’s frustrating having a hunt ruined by people riding ATVs where off-road vehicle use is prohibited. Many ATVs look the same so there’s no way to identify violators when reporting the incident to law enforcement. There should be a requirement that off-road vehicles used on public lands have license plates or large decals. Any ATV user who follows the law and land management directives on where they can and can not use these machines should have no objection to this type of identification.” - Holly Endersby, hunter from western Idaho |
