A police officer was run over by an ATV after he tried to stop a man from riding the vehicle on private property in western Pennsylvania.

Windber Police Officer John Rice was struck early Thursday morning after he ordered the driver to stop. The 55-year-old Rice was in fair condition at a Johnstown hospital.

The driver of the ATV later turned himself into police. Thirty-two-year-old Brett Marsh was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and traffic violations. He was being held at the Somerset County Jail. It wasn't immediately known if Marsh has an attorney.
