Lisa Varga Rural Utahns have one thing in common: We find beauty in the pace of small-town life and the landscapes around us. We depend upon the long-term health of the land - our mountains, rivers, forests and canyons - for our quality of life. They give us game to hunt, fish to catch, firewood to burn, lumber to build our fences and houses and barns, and water to irrigate our fields. |

Donna Milakovic Keep off the grass. Private Property. Beware of Dog. Property owners use all kinds of signs to let potential trespassers know that the land they are on belongs to someone else, but signs like those aren't making much of a difference in part of Eagle Mountain. Landowners along Lake Mountain Road in Eagle Mountain are fed up with recreational interlopers on motorbikes, all terrain vehicles and automobiles driving on their property to get to BLM land. Their property has been stolen, their horses scared and their grass slowly trampled to dirt because of the traffic. |

Robet Gehrke Off-road vehicles that stray from trails are doing immense damage to the state, said Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., who has directed state officers to begin cracking down. "It's an abomination, it's an embarrassment," the governor said Wednesday during a meeting with The Salt Lake Tribune editorial board. |
