A Reidsville man on an ATV was arrested early Thursday morning for driving under the influence and careless and reckless driving. The North Carolina Highway Patrol arrested Lee Adam Trevino, 23, of 585 Cedar Lane.

The arrest came after a deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office observed the yellow ATV in the road on Shadowood Drive and activated his blue lights, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The deputy saw the driver look back but continue driving the ATV. The driver turned on Sommerset Drive and fell off the ATV as he approached the end of the road. The ATV continued moving forward, dragging the driver into a driveway, the release said. Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene, but Trevino refused medical treatment.

“Once they chased our cow into a deep arroyo where it fell and broke its neck. I don't understand how anyone could think chasing livestock is fun.”  As a result of the growing conflicts with off-roaders, the Gonzales family stopped their cattle ranching. It doesn't matter whether it is a plate or decal, what is important is that the identification is visible. The police could have tracked down the illegal riders if we had been able to photograph the IDs on their vehicles. I think that would have made them think twice before breaking the law.”
